WHY PIETER'S PICKS?
At OP Athlete, we believe experience is the best teacher, and Pieter's logged the kind of miles that matter. He's learned what works the hard way, so you don't have to.
No marketing fluff. No overhyped gear. Just honest, trail-tested advice from someone who's been there. Each month, Pieter shares what he's using, where he's running, and one thing that might help you go further.
Because it's not just about running the race. It's about enjoying the journey. And arriving prepared.
MY GEAR PICKS: SHOES
Pick: NNormal Tomir 2.0
First and most important - comfort. I've worn the NNormal Tomir 2.0 on long runs through cold mornings and rocky climbs, and it never let me down. The fit stays secure, the grip holds on wet trails, and it feels good underfoot even after hours out there. It's strong, light, and does the job. Without making things harder than they need to be.

MY GEAR PICKS: APPAREL
Pick: Buff, long sleeve, jacket, gloves, beanie, sleeves
MY GEAR PICKS: ACCESSORIES & TECH
Pick: Garmin watch (charged), headlamp with fresh batteries, STYRKR nutrition, socks, Squirrel’s Nut Butter, Wet Wipes
No headlamp means no navigation. No fuel means no finish. And your feet, if they’re not happy, you’re not happy. Change socks, use foot balm, and stay ahead of blisters. And don’t forget wet wipes. Just trust me on that one. You don’t want to grab the wrong leaf.

TIP OF THE MONTH
Train so race day feels like a celebration.
A big race should be broken up into smaller sections.
Focus on one section at a time. When that's done, move to the next.
Before you know it, you'll be smelling bacon at the finish line. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it. You've got this. -
